Diamond Cutting

In Essex & surrounding areas.

What Is Diamond Cutting?

Diamond cutting is a specialist refurbishment process where a thin layer of metal is precision-machined from the face of the wheel using a lathe.

This recreates the sharp, metallic finish often seen on modern factory wheels.

Unlike standard resprays or powder coating, diamond cutting restores the original two-tone look with a lacquered protective finish applied afterwards.

It requires specialist machinery and controlled workshop conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about our services and how we help.

01
What is diamond cutting on alloy wheels?

Diamond cutting is a specialist process where a thin layer of metal is precision-machined from the wheel face using a CNC lathe. This creates a bright, metallic, factory-style finish with sharp contrast between painted and machined areas.

02
How long does diamond cutting last?

When properly prepared, lacquered and maintained, diamond cut wheels can last for years. However, because the finish is exposed metal under lacquer, they can be more sensitive to corrosion if damaged. We apply high-quality lacquer to maximise durability.

03
Can all alloy wheels be diamond cut?

Not all wheels are suitable. The wheel must have enough material thickness to safely machine. Wheels can only be diamond cut a limited number of times in their lifetime. We always inspect and advise before carrying out work.

04
Do diamond cut wheels crack easily?

No — the diamond cutting process itself does not weaken the wheel when done correctly. Structural integrity is always checked before machining. If a wheel has cracks or severe damage, we’ll repair or advise accordingly.

05
How long does diamond cutting take?

Turnaround time depends on condition and workload. Many diamond cut refurbishments are completed within 2–4 days. Contact us with photos and we’ll confirm exact timing.

06
Is diamond cutting more expensive than standard refurbishment?

Yes — diamond cutting requires specialist CNC machinery and additional finishing stages, which makes it a premium service. It delivers a sharper, high-end finish compared to standard painted refurbishments.
